DALL-E Dynamite ! — FIRST & ONLY “Questionnaire de Proust” in IMAGES with AI “generative art” DALL-E2 —
DALL-E 2 has been hailed and hyped as the hottest newcoming AI “artist” in the digital “generative arts” scene. Stealing, borrowing art, generating and opening new digital art alleys, playing, creating, mixing or simply processing data-to-art, debates are colorfully ongoing.
Instead of writing a n-th article on DALL-E, we, at the House of Ethics, have been opting for an old-style interview of the hyped generative art celebrity.
Inspired by the French semiologist Roland Barthes and his “rhetoric of the image”, we applied “A picture is worth a 1000 words” to DALL-E. Like Barthes was applying it to PANZANI back in 1964 for the coding/decoding images in the advertising industry. The answer is the image.
Coupling Barthes to the “Questionnaire de Proust” was next. Respectful to the most literary Proustian standard and the most modern journalistic “Vanity Fair” celebrity style, “Le Questionnaire de Proust” seems perfect to reveal the INNER DALL-E. (!)
35 questions about preferences, values, likings. The “Questionnaire de Proust” was first answered in 1890 by the French author, and has probably become the most popular personality questionnaire for celebrities on earth ever since. Perfect for DALL-E!
Luck has it that the text-to-image app is prone to such an exercise and transparently reveals impressions, expressions, associations, connotations and surprising data entanglements in its IMAGES. For the better and the worst…
Please enjoy the FIRST and (so far) ONLY “Questionnaire de Proust in PICTURES” by DALL-E2.
Discover our favorite 3 answers by DALL-E :)))
– – – “What I should like to be?”
– – – “My present state of mind”
– – – “My motto” (This is my favorite and genuinely generated by DALL-E!)
All answers are flanked by Proust’s original answers from 1890.
