Being DALL-E2 : Interview in Images with an AI "generative art" Program.

When we suggested to write this article for the House of Ethics, we were up to investigating the loss and gains of text-to-image art generators.
We planned to start with the dichotomy of transparency and mystery, the loss of entire dimensions of art texture once filled by the artists’ turbulent lives as opposed to the polished datastreams by AI generative art processors and producers.
And planning on addressing concerns like stealing images, borrowing art, generating and opening new digital art alleys, playing, creating, mixing or simply processing data-to-art, talking about copyright infringement, intellectual property, legal gatekeepers, missed royalties, image extraction and extortion, text and data mining (TDM), and IP ownership.
Instead we decided to let DALL-E talk… through images.
“An image worth more than 1,000 words”
As we all know, an image tells us more than 1,000 words. So we asked/typed/prompted intimate questions about “BEING DALL-E”. The “artist”, the “creator”, and DALL-E candidly answered in images. Raw, flawless and straight-to-the-(data)point.
A “tell-it-all” interview. And the result was more than revealing. We intended to add a different layer to the debate.
So, this will probably be the most “transparent” interview you’ll ever read. No lies, no secrecy, no manipulation. Only pure and raw data points.

Observations
When dealing with such “revolutionary” “game-changing”AI (art) programs, the immediate questions that should pop up are “What are the benefits of such technologies/apps?” and “What do we want Dall-e to use for?”. Plus “How sustainable are such fun AI programs for our energy balance sheet?”.
Is it adding something to the art world and making our world or humaneness better? That’s how technology or art was once being assessed. The beneficial aspect of its being.
Thus, how far is it being disruptive to further develop (digital) arts? Not sure… There are many ethical downsides when considering the generative process. Not even talking about the creative process.
With such art, as well as the massive generation of useless NFTs, words like talent, inspiration, creative process, aesthetics, mystery become obsolete.
When asked “What is Dalle’s message to the world?”, this was the answer…
And to the question “What would Dalle like to be?”, the prompt answer …
After testing numerous open and closed questions, descriptions, assertive statements or general questions, it comes to no surprise that formulation, wording and punctuation are decisive.
However, the most disturbing factor about DALL-E, besides dubious and questionable data scraping and stripping artists off of their intellectual property, is to see how DALL-E is mainly prompting Western world images. Thus distorting and shrinking the artistic bubble instead of exploding it. Above all, DALL-E is disappointing, if not used as a joke.
